Requirements

Successful completion with a grade of "C" or higher in English 1Math

Take the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS)
Long Beach City College adheres to the guidelines provided by the California Community College Chancellors Office with regards to the TEAS test and remediation policy. After acceptance into the nursing program, students must pass the TEAS test with a 62% or higher on their first attempt. If students do not pass on their first attempt, they will be referred to the Learning and Academic Resource Center to be assigned a remediation plan.

Complete a Background Check
Students are required to complete a background check. Clinical facilities reserve the right to refuse placement based on previous convictions on background checks. Ability to obtain licensure may also be affected by a record of convictions.
Career Ladder LVN-RN Program
To enroll in this program you must be a currently Licensed Vocational Nurse and submit a copy of your license with your application.

Licensed Vocational Nursing Program
Requirements
English
Successful completion with a grade of "C" or higher in English 1 or English 105. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Equivalent courses taken at other colleges must be reviewed by Admissions & Records LBCC for approval.Reading
Successful completion with a grade of "C" or higher in READ 82, READ 83, READ 84 or higher. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Equivalent courses taken at other colleges must be reviewed by Admissions & Records LBCC for approval.Math
Satisfying this proficiency may be achieved by any one of the following:
Completion of Math 45 or higher with a grade of "C" or better at LBCC, or placement in Math 50 or higher. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Equivalent courses taken at other colleges must be reviewed by Admissions & Records LBCC for approval.Biology 60
Successful completion with a grade of "C" or higher in Human Biology 1 (Lecture only, Lab not required) or Equivalent. A combination of separate Human Anatomy (ANAT 1) and Human Physiology (PHYSI 1) will also meet this requirement.Your current California CNA License # and Expiration Date.

Obtain Clinical Requirements
If accepted into the VN program, the student will be notified via email and should begin the process of obtaining the clinical requirements needed for entry.

Complete a Background Check
All incoming students must have cleared a background check within the last 18 months from the program start date through Castlebranch, Inc. You can purchase a background check by placing an order and entering the code LB67 in the form field.
Associate Degree Nursing Program
The Associate Degree in Nursing program is a four-semester program preparing the student to apply for licensure and enter entry-level practice as a Registered Nurse.
Applications for Fall 2025 will be accepted from March 3 – March 6, 2025
Applications for Spring 2026 will be accepted from August 4, 2025 – August 7, 2025
The Career Ladder LVN to RN program prepares the Licensed Vocational Nurse to enter the Associate Degree Nursing program at an advanced level.
Students applying for the 30-unit option Certificate of Achievement leading to non-degree licensure as an RN must meet with the ADN program director prior to applying for the LVN to RN program.
Applications for the LVN-RN program will be accepted from June 24, 2025 – June 27, 2025.
Licensed Vocational Nursing Program
The Vocationa Nursing program prepares students for licensure and entry-level practice as a License Vocational Nurse.
Applications for Fall 2024 will be accepted from May 20-23, 2024.
Applications for Spring 2025 will be accepted from November 12-15, 2024.
