Students explore Hispanic and Latino cultural evolution of contemporary Latin America from Spain in the 1400s, including the Native American cultures, present day Latin America and the Hispanic communities in the United States via articles, essays, realia, short stories, fables, biographies, etc. The course includes grammar review stressing oral and written composition, as well as acquisition of topic-related vocabulary, to improve fluency in the target language. Prerequisite: SPAN 4 or 10. Transferable to both UC and CSU 54 hours lecture |
